Upskilling the people who shape environmental performance across your organisation.
We support organisations in high-risk and complex industries to improve environmental performance — in practical, measurable ways.
By developing the people who influence day-to-day decisions, we help reduce operational impact, strengthen compliance and build resilient, responsible operations across sites and supply chains.
Our tailored programmes give organisations the confidence, structure and capability to:
minimise environmental risk
embed sustainable ways of working
engage the workforce and contractors
deliver long-term performance improvements
Training, community and focused events that help site champions, environmental teams and supply-chain partners deliver meaningful, measurable improvement.
From Awareness to Action: Engaging People in Environmental Performance
Good training only creates change when people are informed, involved and motivated.
We help organisations design communication and engagement approaches that build awareness, encourage ownership and support better everyday decisions.
Our focus is always on practical, site-ready engagement that supports safe, efficient operations and strengthens compliance.
This can include:
development of clear communication and engagement strategies
creation of environmental campaigns and site-wide communications
facilitation of meetings, workshops and away-days
support to build and sustain your rep / champion community
design and oversight of improvement projects and initiatives
guidance on prioritising and managing ongoing scopes of work
We can also help identify targeted initiatives for champions to lead — giving the role purpose, visibility and impact.
Breaking down barriers to environmental engagement
Our industry-recognised Basic Environmental Skills Training (BEST) programme was first developed in 2010 to support offshore environmental representatives (E-Reps). It was created collaboratively — bringing together consultants, operational specialists, safety professionals, industry bodies and the regulator.
Since then, BEST has evolved into a broader suite of environmental and sustainability courses for organisations operating within Safety Case and COMAH regulatory regimes. Our programmes are designed for all levels of an organisation and draw on proven learning approaches such as social learning, retrieval practice and gamification.
Organisations choose BEST when they want engaging, practical learning that people remember and actually use on site.
Our aim is simple: to help individuals, teams and organisations engage in meaningful conversations about the environment — building understanding, confidence and capability.
Training can be delivered in person or online, using digital tools that keep people engaged and supported long after the initial course, reinforcing real behavioural change.
Public courses
Our public programmes run from Aberdeen and focus on building strong environmental awareness in heavily regulated industries.

Training Case Studies
-
BEST Bitesize
We partenered with a global energy operator to kick off their new environmental reps initiative in the UKCS.
Following engagement sessions with key stakeholders, E-Reps completed a a customised Basic Environmental Skills Training course which includes elements of the clients’ EMS delivered over four 2 hour bite size sessions through our online facilitate application.
This delivery method ensures delegates complete all training requirements during work time in a blended model with some self study and activities completed to progress through the modules.

-
BEST Marine
Working with a global marine contractor, we created a 1 day face to face environmental training course delivered from their offices.
The aim of the course was to promote compliance and create alignment with client requirements. Content included key onshore offshore and maritime legislation, and examples of good practice in waste management, EMS, chemicals and emergency response.
Key elements of their project management and customer interface processes were included to tailor the course for operational safety and environmental advisors.

-
Decommissioning Option Selection
With over 20 years decommissioning experience, we created a virtual training course for a global energy company in Singapore outlining decommissioning options for fixed platform removal.
We used North Sea examples of piece-small, modular and total platform removal based on our personal project experience.
By comparing the environmental, technical, commercial and safety challenges between each option, delegates left with a detailed understanding of option selection and comparative assessment.

-
BEST Onshore: North Sea Oil Terminal
Working with the operational leadership team, we delivered a 2 day environmental training course and engagement strategy to newly appointed E-Reps on an oil terminal in Scotland.
The onshore regulatory regime, culture and operations are significantly different to offshore, so require a different approach.
The terminal is located within an internationally recognised protected site with unique island habitats, so the initiative represents great environmental practice, support for the HSE team and alignment with the offshore operations.

-
Strategy: Port Facility
We have been engaged by a key deep sea port on the east coast of England to create a strategy to identify, train and develop the role of e-reps.
The first element of the scope was a presentation of the features and benefits of the e-reps role to the senior leadership team using examples of success stories and practical improvements delivered by other reps’ teams .
The next phase is the roll out of an internal communications strategy to raise awareness of the role and identify specific projects with key environmental impacts, that would benefit from the support of workforce representatives.

“The facilitator had a practical approach to environmental management that many of her peers could learn from- articulate, witty & delivers training with a passion that is infectious. She certainly provoked my Environmental thought process, totally exceeded my pre-course expectations - If only all tutors had this approach!! - Highly recommended’’

“The facilitator was very focused, engaging and enthusiastic which makes the course delivery exceptionally easy to follow regardless of your current knowledge level. The two day E-reps training course was very enjoyable and it enabled me to put my environmental knowledge into an oil and gas context easily. I can not recommend this training highly enough."
